We have immersed ourselves in the curriculum this week and the children have thoroughly enjoyed learning new skills from the Ancient Egyptians. Out in the learning street, the children have been understanding how the Egyptians built pyramids and reproducing 3D shapes using different materials; using hieroglyphics to create their own message; becoming an archeologist through the discovery of Ancient Egyptian artifacts and many more fascinating activities.
We were delighted to see so many parents attend the Year 4 curriculum event, please find the slides attached for your information.
Each week we will be using a new text for whole class Guided Reading and we will be publishing this in advance every Friday. Some of you may enjoy sharing this with your children before they read it in school.
The spelling rule for this week is; the /I/ sound spelt y elsewhere than at the end of words (for example mystery, Egypt and dynasty)
In Maths we are revising our understanding of three digit numbers.
Thursday 26th September –Fitzwilliam Museum Trip
Please give your consent on WisePay.
We will be travelling by U bus from Eddington to the Fitzwilliam and back to school. We are asking for a voluntary donation of £2 per child to pay for the bus. This can be brought in at any time before the trip and given to your class teacher.
A packed lunch will be provided by the school however, please ensure your child has a healthy snack and a water bottle.
Both classes still need some parent volunteers to support this trip. If you are able to help please let your child’s class teacher know as soon as possible.
Thank you and wishing you a wonderful weekend from the Year 4 Team.
