Celebrating Diwali

October 18, 2019

It was wonderful to see so many parents at Family Friday and share our learning from this half term with you all.  This has completed our week of celebrations.

We enjoyed a wonderful Diwali lunch on Wednesday and created some lanterns and artwork during the day.  We also tried Hindu dancing and reread the story of Rama and Sita.

We finished our work on the Ancient Egyptians by publishing our report on the life of Tutankhamun and the stories surrounding the discovery of his tomb.  Nile also considered the question: “Why should we learn about the past?”.  It was a rich and enlightening discussion.  We even wondered if some new inventions are really necessary and if, in fact, they are doing more damage to our world than good.

Attached are two maths challenges for 1/2 term  Mystery Matrix All the Digits along with

Mandarin Introductions

to practise at home.

The guided reading text for the week after half term  Freedom is linked to the start of our survival topic.  The words are minimal, the illustration and potential for inference is rich.

Monday 28th October:  Individual School Photos, Nile art workshop with Mrs Smith

Wishing you all a happy and healthy half term and a restful break.
