Planting and Projects

May 10, 2019

Thank you to Mr Morton who spent the afternoon with Thames last week and launched a sunflower seed growing competition for us.

We have had a busy week creating superb projects of our memories of the residential trip.  We have included poems, creative writing, watercolour work, cover designs and labelled site maps.  We will be bale to show you our work on Family Friday.

In addition the children worked in small groups to present poems, raps, poster presentations and role plays to KS2 in assembly on Wednesday; all based on their residential experience.

We are continuing maths work on fractions.  Here are some challenge questions for practice.  Remember to explain your reasoning.

Big Pedal

At the end of last term the school took part in the Big Pedal, the UK’s largest inter-school cycling and scooter-based challenge that aims to inspire and empower children, teachers and parents to get on two wheels in order to make the daily commute to school. Out of the 2,299 schools that took part, the University of Cambridge Primary School finished in place 319 with a total of 5040 journeys completed by foot, cycle or scooter over the fortnight. Nationwide, nearly three quarters of a million children travelled actively to school during the challenge. Well done to everyone that was able to take part!
