We were delighted to welcome Ryan MacDonald into school this week. He is a planetary expert currently studying for a PhD in Astronomy at the University of Cambridge. His talk was engaging and informative, especially as he is part way through the selection process for the proposed Mars One mission.
If you would like to develop the children’s interest further: Institute of Astronomy holds public open evenings (Wednesdays at 7.15pm). During open evenings, there are both talks on Astronomy and the chance to use their telescopes (if the sky is clear). More details are available here: https://www.ast.cam.ac.uk/public.
We also had a special science lesson that challenged us to find a way to ‘remix’ the colours of the rainbow to make white light.
We are rewriting stories of Rama and Sita and are publishing these next week in time to show you at Family Friday.
Can you add the correct punctuation to this passage from The Iron Man? Editing Challenge
PE will be outside next week so please make sure children have appropriate (warm) kit.
Wednesday: trip to Great St Mary’s Church for a creative morning; singing carols and admiring the beautiful architecture and art of the church. Please remember to bring warm clothes, a healthy snack, water bottle and £2 for the bus fare.
Friday: Family Friday.
Please see below for announcements from FOCUS:
